COD DIGESTION SYSTEM   Reflux-Method

 ISO-TECH COD Digestion System is a compact setup designed for the estimation of Chemical Oxygen Demand in water/waste water samples. The setup is based on the APHA Method in which sample is digested with sulphuric acid and potassium dichromate at 150°C in a refluxing assembly to determine the pollution load by measuring the amount of oxygen required to oxidise and convert the organic waste into carbon dioxide and water. The unit consists of a high efficiency aluminum block heater having holes to accommodate 40 mm dia x 200 mm long C.O.D. reaction tubes made of heat resistant Borosilicate glass. The aluminum block is heated by an array of low watt density tubular alloy heaters properly embedded in the block for uniformity in heating. Temperature of the heating block is set and controlled by a microprocessor based PID type digital temperature indicator cum controller having key board for settings. ISO-TECH COD Digester is provided complete with block heater and two tier insert rack to hold the digestion vessels along with the especially designed air cooled refluxing condensers. The insert assembly consists of two separate racks : the lower rack holds digestion vessels and the upper rack properly holds the glass condensers. Both the racks are provided with individual base frames to store the respective components when not in use. One stainless steel cooling tray with provision for water circulation is provided to cool down the liquid content in the tubes after digestion. The cooling tray is mounted on the rear side of block heater body. The aluminum heating block, properly insulated with ceramic wool to prevent heat loss, is mounted in a mild steel sheet cabinet. The block heater cabinet with controller module and the racks are powder coated to resist corrosion. The control module is provided with Microprocessor based digital temp. Controller and 0-120 minute timer to automatically switch off the digestion process after completion.
