ISO-TECH COD-Meter system is a compact setup designed for the estimation of Chemical Oxygen Demand in water/waste water samples. The setup is based on Method 410.4 for the Determination of Chemical Oxygen Demand by Semi – Automated Colorimetric. This method requires very less amount of chemicals and measures C.O.D. in the range of 0 – 15000 mg/L. In working, Sample, blank standards in sealed glass tubes are heated in a Microprocessor controlled block digester in presence of potassium dichromate at 150 oC for 2 hours. After 2 hours when the reaction is complete, the tubes are taken out from the digester, cooled to room temperature and the colour developed is measured spectrophotometrically at 600 nm. The C.O.D. value of the sample is determined with reference to Calibration Standard. The procedure is E P A (U. S. Environmental Protection Agency) Approved and being followed by Pollution Control Boards.
ISO-TECH COD-25 Digester provided complete with block heater unit equipped with temperature controller, insert rack with stand to hold the reaction tubes during heating or adding sample/reactants prior to heating and glass reaction tubes. The aluminum block, properly insulated to prevent heat loss, is mounted in a mild steel sheet cabinet and the temperature controller module including timer is housed in a separate cabinet and mounted on the side of block heater assembly to protect the temperature controller from any heating effect. The control module is fitted with a microprocessor based digital temp. controller and a 120 min timer.
